Meet the Blackwells
Nelson and his wife Terry have been married for 30 years. They are both lifelong residents of Alvin. They have three daughters, Janelle, Abigail, and Katie, and one son-by-marriage, Spencer. They are members of Heights Baptist Church where Nelson serves as a deacon and Terry serves in the Worship Arts Ministry. They also supporters of H.O.P.E. dental clinic, which provides dental care for low income families in our community.
After graduating from Alvin High Schoool in 1981, Nelson worked in the family rice farming business. In 1983, as farming became less profitable, Nelson and his dad opened Blackwell Fill and Sand, Inc., providing materials and earthwork. After his dad's retirement in 1995, Nelson continued to operate a successful business. In August 2004, Nelson closed Blackwell Fill and Sand, Inc. to accept an invitation to join J.T. Vaughn Construction firm in Houston where he is the Earthwork division manager.
